Welcome to my blog!
I've been trying to decide for some time now whether or not I should start a blog and create my own website. Well, last October, I went to the ECWC (Emerald City Writers Conference) and attended a wonderful workshop by Ann Charles and Jacquie Rogers, co-captains of 1st Turning Point (http://1stturningpoint.com/). Ann and Jacquie successfully convinced me that even pre-published authors need to have a web presence.
Immediately after the conference, I started looking at the websites of some author friends, both published and pre-published, to see what kind of information was presented on their sites and if I could pull off a site of my own.
Amazed and perplexed by the vast array of options available, I began asking friends how they went about setting up their own sites and blogs. There is domain registration, site hosting, web design, do-it-yourself packages. Whew! My head was spinning. The one thing I knew for sure was that as a pre-published author, I was not willing to invest too much money into having something custom designed (I'll save that for when I'm rich and famous LOL!)
The package that caught my eye is this one. It has a 5-page website, a blog, a social page, a photo page, and of course, email all for one affordable price. Now, I have to see if I can manage all of this by myself. It may take me some time to get it just right, so please be patient. It will all work out in the end.
My blog will focus on what it's like to start out as a writer, the networking, the writing process, the craft, and of course, self-promotion. Be sure to visit my website - once I finally get it up! You'll find a page with links to writer's resources, writer's websites and blogs, writer's associations, etc. that I hope will be the one-stop location for everything a young writer needs to know about writing.
Until next time, happy writing!
Kristine
